There is prior experience level required for beginning the trick training program.
All are welcome and each step is designed to go at you and your dog's speed.
Learn how to teach your dog new tricks, starting from the basics like sit, down, and shake- to advanced tricks like picking up their toys, turning on and off lights, and grabbing you a drink from the fridge!
Through this program you can earn enough points to earn your trick dog title with Do More With Your Dog! Trainer evaluation is included in your program price.
Application fee on DMWYD site not included.
I will help you and your dog reach this goal!
The tricks I can help you teach your dog will be dependent on you and your dog's experience level and any physical limitations. Puppies and senior dogs should not be doing high impact tricks like jumps and flips. I will have some recommendations for your specific dog, but our time together is for working on whatever tricks you want your dog to learn!
Tricks are separated in Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, and Expert. Most beginner dogs learn a mixture of novice and intermediate tricks easily.
Novice Tricks Examples: Sit, Down, Come, Fetch, Spin in Circles, Hoop/bar Jumps, Ring a Bell, Go to Kennel, Jump Over Leg, Crawl
Intermediate Tricks Examples: Sit pretty/Beg, Shake Hands, Roll Over, Close Door, Leg Weave, Soccer
Advance Trick Examples: Back Up(5 ft), Play Dead, Play the Piano, Bow, Hug a Toy, Wave, Wipe Your Paws, Skateboard, Turn on/off lights
Expert Trick Examples: Basketball, Chess, Climb a Ladder, Nosework, Cover Eyes
You will be given an official DMWYD trick sheet on your first training session.
I train using positive reinforcement! This makes trick training fun for your dog and strengthens your relationship!
I will show you how to use a clicker to teach your dog new tricks and use rewards like treats and toys for his efforts.
Titles are a way of showing your dog's performance and ability in a sport or activity. This can include obedience, agility, herding, flyball, tricks, and much more!
For me and my dogs, my titles are personal achievements, a way to show our commitment and passion!
Your dog's title is displayed as the suffix (end of name) for whichever level he achieved. For example, Novice Trick Dog would be NTD. Unless it is a champion title, in which it is added as a prefix to the name (at the beginning).
These titles can come with a certificate, ribbon, and patch which can be acquired after a CTDI evaluation.
If you truly cannot afford the cost of the program up front, please get in touch for payment plan options. I understand that money is tight for many people, but that shouldn't lessen your access to quality training for your dog.
Currently I am serving Antrim County and surrounding areas for in-person training, but I also offer online virtual training for those out of my service area! Online training is convenient and allows us to work together without location restrictions. Please contact me to discuss how we can set up virtual training!
